🌖💗 Midweek Message from the Moon: Six of Cups x Waning Gibbous Moon 🌿✨
Hi angels 💖
The moon is beginning her slow exhale, still bright in the night sky but softening now, her light melting into shadow. The waning gibbous phase is the “afterglow,” the moment after the fullness, when the rush of the peak has passed and we’re left with the sweetness of what remains. It’s a time for gratitude, reflection, and release. We honor what has come to fruition, gather the lessons it brought, and lay down what we no longer need to carry.
This week, the Six of Cups comes forward for us, a card steeped in nostalgia, kindness, and the tender magic of memory. It asks us to look back (without dwelling or getting stuck for too long!!) to retrieve the pieces of ourselves we’ve left along the way. The scent of your grandmother’s perfume. The way the light fell across your bedroom floor as a teenager. The old song that still makes you believe in love. These fragments are threads in the tapestry of who you are now, threads worth weaving intentionally into the present.
🌿 Nostalgia as Magic
Nostalgia often gets dismissed as living in the past, but I see it as a form of magic. Memory is a spell that collapses time, allowing us to feel across decades in a single heartbeat. It’s not about romanticizing what was, but about recognizing what still resonates, what still feels like home in your bones.
When I work with the Six of Cups, I think about my inner child and my inner teen, both of whom are vivid muses in my magical practice. My inner child reminds me to keep wonder alive, to look for heart shaped rocks on the sidewalk, to laugh in ways that shake my whole body. My inner teen? She’s still my wild heart. She’s the one who dyed her hair pink without asking, who stayed up too late writing bad poetry, who believed she could change the world because she listened to a little too much Anti Flag (unfortunately). She still whispers in my ear when I’m on the edge of something brave.
Working with your inner child or inner teen isn’t just self help work, it’s spellwork baby!! You’re forging a bridge between who you were and who you are becoming, blending their magic into your present day power.
🌖 Waning Gibbous Wisdom
This phase of the moon is a clearing. It’s the perfect time to release the versions of ourselves that no longer fit, while keeping the memories, qualities, and dreams that still feel true. The Six of Cups asks:
🌿 What pieces of my past feel worth carrying forward?
🌿 Where can I offer or receive kindness without expectation?
🌿 How can I honor the child and teen I once were in the life I live now?
Let the waning gibbous energy help you sort the treasure from the clutter. Gratitude is your compass here.
✨ Spell for Remembering & Releasing
You’ll need:
A white or pale pink candle
A small token from your past (a keepsake, an old photo, a letter, or even a natural object from a place you love)
A notebook & pen
A bowl of water with a pinch of salt
Step 1: Prepare your space
Light your candle and sit somewhere comfortable. Place your token in front of you and take a few deep breaths, letting your body relax.
Step 2: Call in your past self
Hold the token in your hands. Close your eyes and imagine your younger self, perhaps a specific age that feels important right now. Notice where you are together: maybe it’s your childhood bedroom, maybe a park bench, maybe the back row of a concert venue. See what they’re wearing, notice their expression.
Step 3: Speak to them
In your mind or out loud, thank them for everything they carried, learned, and survived. Acknowledge their dreams, their joy, their heartbreaks. Ask them what they want you to remember.
Step 4: Write it down
Open your notebook and jot down what comes through words, images, feelings. Circle the ones that feel most alive for you now.
Step 5: Release & keep
Dip your fingers in the salted water and gently sprinkle a few drops over the token. Say:
I carry forward the love, the joy, the lessons.
I release the rest with gratitude.
My past is a garden & I choose the blooms I keep.
Visualize the heaviness of old wounds, outdated identities, or lingering regret washing away into the water.
Step 6: Close the spell
Place the token somewhere you’ll see it often, as a reminder of your roots and your resilience. Let the candle burn a little longer, then safely extinguish it.
🌾 Mantra for the week: “I honor where I’ve been. I bless what I release. I grow from what I keep.”
The Six of Cups and the waning gibbous Moon remind us: You are the keeper of your own story. You get to decide what stays, what goes, and how you weave the past into the magic of your present.
